Skyy Vodka is a 40% ABV plain American vodka born in San Francisco in 1992, now part of the Campari Group's portfolio. The brand is recognised as one of the first in the vodka category to apply a process of four distillations and three filtrations. The producer presents this process as the foundation of the vodka's smooth, clean taste. Easily recognised by its cobalt blue bottle, Skyy is a vodka particularly widely used in cocktail bars.
What does Skyy Vodka taste like?
According to Liquor.com's review, the nose carries a light sweetness reminiscent of corn. On the palate, light peppery and soft sweet notes are equally balanced; the texture is light and airy. On the finish, a peppery sensation lingering on the tongue overtakes the remaining sweetness.
How is it served?
It can be drunk neat, chilled or over ice; but Skyy's primary use is in cocktails. Its clean structure serves as a base in classics such as the Cosmopolitan, Moscow Mule and Vodka Tonic without overpowering the other ingredients. Serving it ice cold and over ice in mixes keeps the taste balanced.
What food does it pair with?
Light, clean vodkas pair well with fresh dishes such as sushi, ceviche or grilled seafood. Served as a cocktail, platters of nuts and light snacks also make a suitable accompaniment.
