Schwartzhog is a 36.7% ABV herbal liqueur (Kräuterlikör) made at the Hardenberg distillery (Hardenberg-Wilthen AG) in the town of Nörten-Hardenberg, Germany. Prepared from selected herbs, fruits, roots and wormwood, the liqueur stands out, in the brand's own words, for its exceptionally smooth taste, light citrus note and restrained sweetness. The Hardenberg family's distilling tradition dates back to 1700.

Where does the name Schwartzhog come from?

The name comes from the black wild boar, the emblem of the Hardenberg family. According to the legend, a black boar once warned the family of an approaching attack, saving the castle. The boar's head on the bottle is a reference to this story.

What does Schwartzhog taste like?
