Patrón XO Cafe is a 35% ABV coffee tequila liqueur made in Mexico by combining Patrón Silver tequila with natural coffee essence. Unlike most lower-alcohol coffee liqueurs, the producer describes this drink as dry and not overly sweet. The Patrón brand is part of the Bacardi group.

What does Patrón XO Cafe taste like?

Roasted coffee is pronounced on the nose, accompanied by chocolate, vanilla and agave notes. On the palate there is a dry, full structure: espresso and chocolate lead, with the tequila's agave character sensed behind a light sweetness. The finish is long, aromatic and warm. Its restrained sweetness keeps the liqueur balanced even when drunk neat.

How is it served?

The producer recommends the liqueur for drinking neat, in cocktails and in dessert-making. It can be drunk after dinner in a small glass, over ice or at room temperature. It forms a strong coffee base in coffee-based cocktails such as an espresso martini and White Russian; drizzled over vanilla or hazelnut ice cream, it turns into an affogato-style dessert.

What food does it pair with?

The coffee and cocoa notes make a natural match with desserts such as chocolate cake, tiramisu and chocolate mousse. Its dry character means it can be served after dinner alongside toasted hazelnuts or almonds.

Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
