Olmeca Gold is a gold tequila at 35% ABV made from blue Weber agave in Mexico's Los Altos de Jalisco region, from Pernod Ricard's Olmeca brand. It takes its name from the pre-Columbian Olmec civilisation; symbols of this heritage are also reflected in the brand's distinctive bottle design. Tequilas labelled gold or oro are distinguished from clear blancos by their golden colour.
What does Olmeca Gold taste like?
The amber-gold tequila has a fruity, sweet aroma: roasted agave, fine vanilla, spice and light woody notes are all detectable together. On the palate it's soft and spiced; sweet agave, honey and warm spices are rounded out with black pepper and light smoky nuances. The finish is long and pleasant, leaving a spiced sweetness and fine woody notes.
How is it served?
It's used as a classic shot or as a versatile base for tequila cocktails and long drinks. It performs well in the Margarita, Tequila Sunrise and Paloma; it can be served well chilled or over ice.
Which foods does it pair with?
Tacos, nachos with guacamole, grilled meat and spicy Mexican snacks complement its sweet-spiced profile. Barbecue meats and spiced dishes are natural matches for this tequila.
