Monte Rosso is a 9% ABV sweet (lieblich) red wine made by the German wine house Peter Mertes from Italian grapes. It is a blend of several grapes with no stated vintage, offering a fruity, soft drink thanks to its high residual sugar.
What does Monte Rosso taste like?
Notes of blueberry, redcurrant, sour cherry and plum stand out in the glass, joined by blackcurrant. The palate is markedly fruity; the sweetness is balanced by measured fruit acidity, giving the wine a velvety texture without losing its freshness. It is a light-bodied, easy-drinking red containing around 51 grams of residual sugar per litre. The grapes are processed quickly, and the wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
How should it be served?
It is recommended to serve at 15–18°C. Its screw cap makes it easy to open and reclose; once opened, the bottle can be stored in the refrigerator and consumed within a few days.
What food does it pair with?
Its sweetness balances well with spiced and lightly hot dishes. It also pairs easily with hearty everyday dishes such as pasta and pizza; a soft alternative for those who find dry reds too harsh.
