Lithuanian Vodka Classic

Lithuanian Vodka Classic is a 37.5% ABV plain grain vodka produced by Stumbras, Lithuania's most established drinks producer. Stumbras is the successor to a distillery founded in Kaunas in 1906 and is now part of MV Group. According to the producer, the "Lithuanian Vodka" brand is Lithuania's most popular vodka brand, and Lithuanian-origin vodkas are protected by geographical indication within the European Union. Classic is the plain member of the range, intended for everyday use.

What does Lithuanian Vodka Classic taste like?

According to a description from Finnish state monopoly Alko, it is a colourless, smooth, dry and neutral vodka. Rather than pronounced aromas, it carries a clean grain alcohol character, giving it a structure that is not harsh when drunk neat and that does not mask other flavours in mixes. The producer states that the Lithuanian Vodka brand is filtered through sand and birch charcoal, then through silver and gold filters; the specific production details for Classic are not separately published.

How is it served?

The producer states that the Lithuanian Vodka range is traditionally drunk well chilled in small shot glasses. It can also be readily used in simple mixes with fruit juices, carbonated drinks or tonic, and in classic vodka cocktails.

What food does it pair with?

In Baltic cuisine, vodka is served at the table with meze featuring herring, smoked fish, pickles and cold cuts. Its light, neutral structure pairs well across a wide range, from olive-oil-based meze to fish dishes.
