Grangestone Highland Single Malt Bourbon Cask Finish is a no-age-statement, 40% ABV single malt Scotch whisky from the Highlands of Scotland, presented under William Grant & Sons' Grangestone brand. It is an unpeated malt.
What does Bourbon Cask Finish mean?
The whisky first matures in traditional American oak casks, then completes its final maturation in first-fill bourbon casks. This whisky won gold at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Because the first-fill bourbon cask previously held only bourbon, it clearly imparts vanilla and caramel tones.
What does Grangestone Bourbon Cask Finish taste like?
According to reviews, the nose shows vanilla, caramel and toffee standing out, with light floral touches and a hint of raisin. The palate is soft and moderately sweet; caramel and vanilla are accompanied by a light spice. The finish is short to medium, closing with oak and warm spice.
How should it be served, and what does it pair with?
It can be enjoyed neat, on ice, or as a highball with soda. Its light, sweetish character pairs well with grilled chicken, nuts and caramel or fruit desserts.
