Efe Rakı Oak

Efe Rakı Oak, presented by Efe Alkollü İçecekler under the name Oak Barrel, is a 42% ABV Turkish raki made from a blend of rakis rested for different periods in French and American oak barrels. It is distilled entirely from suma obtained from Aegean grapes and produced at the distillery in Menderes, İzmir.

What does Efe Oak taste like?

It is pale amber in colour. Vanilla and oak aromas stand out on both nose and palate, with aniseed staying in the background. It has a full-bodied, soft yet lively taste. One tasting review placed its character somewhere between raki and whiskey or brandy.

How is it served?

Unlike classic rakis, the producer recommends sipping it like a whiskey throughout the meal rather than diluting it with water. It can be chosen neat or with a few ice cubes, before or after a meal. Those who want to dilute it with water can add a small amount and try how the oak and vanilla notes change.

What food does it pair with?

Its oaky, vanilla character is well balanced by rich, mature cheeses and nuts such as roasted almonds and walnuts. At the table, it can also be served in small measures alongside light Aegean mezes.
