Smirnoff Ice is a carbonated, 4% ABV, ready-to-drink vodka mix combining Diageo's Smirnoff No. 21 vodka with lemon flavour and sugar. In the European market, Smirnoff Ice is vodka-based; it differs from the malt-based drink sold under the same name in the US and France.
What is in it?
According to retailers' product descriptions, the drink is made by mixing Smirnoff No. 21 vodka with lemon-lime-flavoured carbonated water. The Smirnoff brand, with roots in the distillery Pyotr Smirnov founded in Moscow in the 1860s, is now owned by British company Diageo.
What does Smirnoff Ice taste like?
The brand describes Smirnoff Ice Original as sharp and citrusy: lemon's fresh tartness is balanced with a light sugar sweetness. Its low alcohol content makes it light and easy to drink.
How is it served, and what does it pair with?
The brand's suggested serve is to chill it well and pour it into a tall glass full of ice cubes, garnished with a slice of lemon; it can also be drunk cold from the bottle.
