Saki Rakı Göbek is the heart-cut raki of the Saki brand, produced at Sezer Holding's facility in Salihli, Manisa. Saki rakis are distilled from 100% fresh-grape suma with Çeşme aniseed in copper stills; the producer states no sugar or agricultural alcohol is added to any of its rakis.
During distillation, the first and last fractions that come off the still are separated out, and the finest middle section in between is called the "göbek" (heart). Because heart-cut rakis are made only from this section, they aim for a smoother, more balanced drink. Many raki brands offer a separate heart-cut bottling made this way.
Saki's facility in the Salihli Organized Industrial Zone began producing vodka and liqueur in 2011, and raki and wine in 2012. The brand's range includes varieties of different character, such as Gold Göbek, Gurme, Deluxe, Siyah Üzüm, the Uludağ Series and the long-rested Premium rakis.
Chilled, it is drunk in a narrow-waisted raki glass, diluted with cold water. It turns milky white when water is added; ice, if wanted, is added last.
The classic meze table opening with white cheese and melon, grilled fish and seafood are the best-known companions for heart-cut raki.
