Molly's Irish Cream is a 17% ABV Irish cream liqueur made in the town of Bailieborough, County Cavan, Ireland. It is made with fresh Irish dairy cream, Irish whiskey, soft Irish alcohol and natural chocolate aroma. Molly's is a family company now run by its second generation, and describes itself as the largest family-owned Irish cream producer.
How is it made?
According to the producer, the liqueur is made at one of the world's oldest cream liqueur facilities, a factory once owned by Baileys in Bailieborough, about 80 km from Dublin. A third of the bottle is fresh Irish cream; this cream, sourced from cows grazing in local pastures, is combined with Irish alcohol and whiskey through a natural blending method.
What does Molly's Irish Cream taste like?
The intensity of the cream leads; the soft warmth of the Irish whiskey and the natural chocolate aroma complete this creaminess. The overall profile is smooth, sweet and velvety.
How is it served?
The producer recommends it over ice, chilled, or added to coffee. It is also used in creamy cocktails such as the Mudslide. As a cream liqueur, it should be kept in the fridge once opened.
What desserts does it pair with?
The cream and chocolate notes make a fitting match with chocolate cake, tiramisu, brownies and vanilla ice cream. Toasted hazelnuts and almonds are also a simple choice alongside a glass with coffee.
