Molly's Irish Cream Salted Caramel is an Irish cream liqueur, a version of Molly's Irish Cream enriched with buttery caramel and a pinch of salt. It is made in Bailieborough, County Cavan, Ireland, by Molly's, a second-generation family company. The producer presents this liqueur as a limited-edition, small-batch take on the classic recipe.
How is it made?
According to the producer, the liqueur is made by blending fresh Irish dairy cream, fine grain alcohol and soft Irish whiskey, to which buttery caramel and a light touch of salt are added. Production takes place at the Bailieborough factory, once owned by Baileys and considered one of the world's oldest cream liqueur facilities.
What does Molly's Salted Caramel taste like?
Buttery caramel leads, combined with the softness of the cream and a light warmth from the whiskey. The touch of salt balances the sweetness, giving the drink a more layered character.
How is it served?
It can be drunk neat with ice, chilled in a small glass, or added to hot coffee. Drizzling it over ice cream and using it in creamy cocktails are also common. As a cream liqueur, it should be kept in the fridge once opened.
What desserts does it pair with?
The salted caramel notes make a natural match with chocolate desserts, caramel cheesecake, apple pie and vanilla ice cream. Salted toasted nuts also strike a pleasant sweet-salty balance alongside after-dinner coffee.
