Licor 43 Chocolate

Licor 43 Chocolate is a 16% ABV chocolate liqueur from the Zamora family, born from combining Licor 43 Original, produced in Cartagena, Spain, with carefully selected cocoa. The Licor 43 it is based on has been made in Cartagena since 1946 to a family recipe of 43 secret ingredients, known for its citrus, vanilla and herbal notes.

The story of Licor 43 Chocolate

The producer traces this liqueur back to Spain's deep-rooted chocolate tradition: cocoa beans brought from Mexico in the 16th century first reached Andalusia, from where chocolate spread across Europe. Licor 43 Chocolate brings this tradition together with the brand's vanilla-forward character.

What does Licor 43 Chocolate taste like?

It is a creamy, dark milk-chocolate coloured liqueur with golden and reddish reflections. On the nose, intense cocoa tones are accompanied by a light tartness; this freshness is balanced by Licor 43's sweet, vanilla notes. On the palate, a milk-chocolate texture stands out; the producer states that this structure, reminiscent of melting chocolate, is best appreciated well chilled.

How is it served?

It can be drunk neat, over ice, or mixed with coffee; the producer suggests a chocolate twist on the classic Carajillo 43.

What desserts does it pair with?

The cocoa and vanilla notes suit chocolate desserts, cheesecake and vanilla ice cream. Toasted hazelnuts and almonds are also a simple accompaniment alongside an after-dinner coffee glass.
