Keglevich Çilek

Keglevich Fragola is an 18% ABV strawberry vodka liqueur from the Italian vodka brand Keglevich, combining vodka with strawberry juice. The brand states its production is based on the centuries-old recipe of Count István Keglevich, and its fruit range is made with no artificial colouring, using a high concentration of fruit juice.

How is it made?

The Keglevich vodka it is based on is made from a blend of 60% wheat and 40% triticale, a hybrid grain of rye and durum wheat. According to the producer, the distillate is passed through six distillation cycles and filtered through fine filters; as a result, the product is gluten-free. The vodka is blended with juice from sun-ripened strawberries; the ingredient list also includes cherry and lemon juice alongside strawberry juice.

What does Keglevich Strawberry taste like?

The producer sums up the taste as "sweet but fresh": ripe strawberry is pronounced, while the vodka's alcohol stays in the background. Its low alcohol content makes it soft and easy to drink.

How is it served?

It can be used neat over plenty of ice, or as the main ingredient in fruity summer cocktails. The producer recommends storing the bottle in the fridge and not freezing it.

What desserts does it pair with?

Its strawberry aroma makes a natural match with fruity desserts; served cold alongside strawberry cake, fruit tart or vanilla ice cream, it makes a good accompaniment. It also finds a pleasant contrast with bitter chocolate desserts.
