Nemrut Rakı Göbek is the heart-cut version of the Nemrut raki range produced by Sema İçkileri in Famagusta. The name "göbek" (heart) refers to the middle section of the raki that flows during distillation, considered the most valuable, once the fractions from the start and end are separated out. Sema İçkileri was founded in 1975 and is North Cyprus's oldest drinks factory.

About the producer

Founded by Selim Süren, Sema İçkileri has produced raki since 1979. Today making more than 100 alcoholic and non-alcoholic products, the company's raki portfolio includes Nemrut, Sema Rakı and Şıra Rakı. In 2021, the Nemrut brand also drew attention with a limited special range prepared by blending rakis rested for 8 years in oak barrels, clay amphorae and steel tanks.

How is it served?

It is drunk in a narrow-waisted raki glass, diluted with cold water; ice is added last. When water is added it turns milky white. Those who love drinking it neat may prefer it well chilled, with a glass of cold water alongside.

What food does it pair with?

It suits the Cypriot meze table: halloumi, olives, fresh herbs, yoghurt-based mezes, grilled fish and seafood are its classic companions.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
