Kulüp Rakı Delüks is a 45% ABV Turkish raki made entirely from fresh grapes, launched by Mey|Diageo on 29 October 2023 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Republic. It is a lighter-aniseed, smoother-drinking expression of the Kulüp brand, produced since 1930; unlike the classic Kulüp's 50% strength, it comes in at 45%.
How is Kulüp Delüks made?
It is made at the facility in Alaşehir, Manisa, from fresh-grape suma and aniseed seed; the producer states the raki is taken "from the very heart of the still" and that its aniseed is kept light. The label design is by graphic artist Emrah Yücel, known for his Hollywood film posters.
What does Kulüp Delüks taste like?
It whitens to just the right degree when water is added. Fresh, lively fruity aromas from the fresh grapes are pronounced on the nose. It is also fruity on the palate; aniseed is worked in lightly, leaving grape to take the lead role. It is smooth and easy-drinking, and can even be enjoyed neat when well chilled.
How is it served?
It should always be served chilled. In the classic method, it is served with cold water in a narrow-waisted glass; for those who prefer, it can also be served chilled and neat.
What food does it pair with?
Its light aniseed character pairs well with olive-oil mezes, white cheese and melon, raw or lightly cooked seafood, and grilled fish.
