AU Vodka Black Grape

Au Vodka Black Grape is a 35.2% ABV flavoured drink from the Au Vodka brand, founded in Swansea, Wales, combining five-times-distilled vodka with sweet grape flavour. As its alcohol content falls below the EU's 37.5% minimum for vodka, the label reads "Flavoured Spirit Drink" rather than vodka.

The producer describes Black Grape as a blend that brings its award-winning vodka together with a sweet grape taste. Part of the brand's gold-bottled flavoured range, it has a sweet profile that presents grape flavour alongside the vodka's body.

Where does the Au Vodka brand come from?

Au Vodka was founded in 2015 in Swansea by school friends Charlie Morgan and Jackson Quinn. The brand's name comes from Au, gold's symbol on the periodic table; the gold-coloured bottles carry through this idea. British DJ and producer Charlie Sloth later joined the company as an investor and executive.

How should it be served?

Well chilled, it can be served as a short shot or, with plenty of ice, lengthened with lemonade, tonic or soda. The grape flavour stays distinct in simple mixes with lemon soda; a slice of lemon can be added to balance the sweetness.

What does Au Vodka Black Grape pair well with?

Its sweet, fruity character suits fruit desserts and light snacks. Grape or red-fruit cakes, fruit platters and salty nuts pair well alongside it as a chilled long drink.
