Sir Bonnet Salted Caramel is a 37.5% ABV rum-based drink built on Caribbean rums rested in oak barrels and flavoured with natural caramel and a pinch of sea salt. The brand takes its name from the Barbados-born "Gentleman Pirate" Major Stede Bonnet (1688–1718), and describes this variant as a modern take pairing caramel's richness with the balancing effect of salt.
What does Sir Bonnet Salted Caramel taste like?
The nose shows rich, creamy tones with buttery vanilla nuances. The palate is soft and full-bodied; caramel notes are gently balanced by a light saltiness. The producer promises buttery notes, a pinch of salt and a smooth mouthfeel in every sip. The finish is silky, with creamy sweetness lingering on the palate for a while.
How is it served?
It can be drunk neat over ice. It can also be used to add depth to desserts and cocktails; added to hot chocolate, it becomes a rich, caramel-laced winter drink.
What food does it pair with?
Its salted caramel character forms a natural pairing with chocolate desserts, especially brownies, chocolate cake and caramel-sauced ice cream. It can also be enjoyed with roasted hazelnuts, almonds or salted nuts.
