Shanky's Whip Golden Ostrich is a limited-edition special bottling of Shanky's Whip, the 33% ABV black Irish whiskey liqueur made in County Cavan, Ireland. The liqueur is identical to the brand's classic recipe: Irish whiskey, another spirit produced in Ireland, vanilla and caramel combined together. The difference lies in the packaging: the drink is presented in a gold-plated ceramic bottle resembling an antique trophy.
What is special about the Golden Ostrich bottle?
Distinguished by its gold-coloured ostrich figure, this bottle is designed as a collector's and gift item. Released by the producer in limited numbers, the ceramic bottle is positioned as an object that can be kept as a bar decoration even after the drink is finished.
What does it taste like?
As the contents are identical to the standard Shanky's Whip, the taste profile is the same. The nose shows notes reminiscent of vanilla, caramel and coffee, to which the producer adds toffee, butter, cream and sweet spice. The palate is sweet and smooth, with vanilla and caramel in the foreground and whiskey in the background.
How is it served and what does it pair with?
It can be drunk neat over ice, served as a chilled shot, or added to hot coffee in Irish-coffee style; it also mixes well with hot chocolate. Caramel and chocolate desserts, especially brownies and caramel-sauced ice cream, are a good match; roasted nuts can also be served alongside.
