Sarı Zeybek Original is the first raki in the Sarı Zeybek range produced in İzmir by Efe Alkollü İçecekler; it is double-distilled from 100% grape suma at 45% ABV. The range began with this raki in 2006 and later expanded with the Yaş Üzüm and 3 Meşe versions.
How is Sarı Zeybek Original made?
Grape suma is double-distilled with aniseed from Burdur's Tefenni district in copper stills. The raki is rested in oak barrels for six months before bottling. No sugar is added in production.
What does Sarı Zeybek Original taste like?
It turns a very light yellowish white when water is added. Aniseed leads on both nose and palate, while vanilla-like and oaky tones from the barrel are felt at a nuanced level. It is a substantial, full-bodied raki.
How is it served?
It is drunk in a narrow-waisted glass, raki poured first, then cold water; those who want ice can add it last. Those who love drinking it neat can chill it well and keep a glass of cold water alongside.
What food does it pair with?
It pairs best with fish and seafood: grilled sea bass, sea bream, squid and octopus. It also sits comfortably at a table of white cheese, melon and olive-oil mezes.
