Merrys White Chocolate is a 17% ABV Irish cream liqueur flavoured with white chocolate and vanilla. Made in Clonmel, in Ireland's County Tipperary, with fresh dairy cream from the Golden Vale region, the liqueur was named the world's best chocolate liqueur at the World Liqueur Awards in both 2024 and 2026. The Merrys brand's roots trace back to Merry's Tavern in Dungarvan in 1868.
How is it made?
According to the producer, the cream used comes from cows grazing in the pastures of Tipperary and reaches the facility within twelve hours of leaving the farm gate. This fresh cream is blended with aged Irish whiskey and natural flavours.
What does Merrys White Chocolate taste like?
The producer describes the liqueur through the rich elegance of white chocolate, the soft creaminess of a vanilla pod, and aged Irish whiskey. According to the World Liqueur Awards judges, the nose shows a clear white chocolate aroma; the palate is warm and delicate, with high mouthfeel. Light, fresh and sweet on the palate, floral notes, fresh vanilla and chocolatey undertones are felt; the finish is balanced and pleasant.
How is it served?
It can be drunk neat with ice, chilled in a small glass, or added to hot coffee. It is also used in creamy cocktails and dessert recipes. As a cream liqueur, it should be kept in the fridge once opened.
What desserts does it pair with?
The white chocolate and vanilla notes suit chocolate desserts, strawberry and raspberry cakes, cheesecake and vanilla ice cream.
