Merrys Chocolate Peanut Butter is a 17% ABV Irish cream liqueur made in Clonmel, in Ireland's County Tipperary, flavoured with chocolate and peanut butter. Merrys liqueurs are made by blending fresh dairy cream from the world-renowned Golden Vale dairy region with aged Irish whiskey and natural flavours. The brand's roots trace back to Merry's Tavern in Dungarvan in 1868.
How is it made?
According to the producer, the cream used comes from cows grazing in the pastures of Tipperary and reaches the facility within twelve hours of leaving the farm gate. This fresh cream is blended with aged Irish whiskey; chocolate and peanut butter aromas are added for this version.
What does Merrys Chocolate Peanut Butter taste like?
Winner of gold and Country Champion at the World Liqueur Awards 2025, the judges' notes describe both roasted and raw peanut aromas felt richly on the nose. On the palate, creamy peanut butter stands out; the overall impression is clean, distinct flavours, with a light, airy finish.
How is it served?
It can be drunk neat with ice or chilled; it can be added to coffee or used in ice cream and desserts. As a cream liqueur, it should be kept in the fridge once opened.
What food does it pair with?
The peanut butter and chocolate notes suit brownies, chocolate cake and milk-chocolate desserts. Roasted peanuts and other nuts are also a simple accompaniment.
