El Jimador Reposado

El Jimador Reposado is a reposado tequila made from 100% blue Weber agave in Mexico's Jalisco state, rested for two months in American oak casks and sold in Europe at 38% ABV. The brand is part of Casa Herradura's portfolio, owned by the Brown-Forman group, and is counted among Mexico's best-selling tequilas.

How is El Jimador made?

The brand takes its name from the agricultural workers, the 'jimadores', who have harvested agave using the same tools and techniques for centuries. Hand-harvested ripe agaves are naturally fermented and distilled twice. Reposado means 'rested' in Spanish; El Jimador Reposado is rested for two months in handmade American oak casks before bottling. This period gives the tequila a honey-toned golden colour and a soft, oak-derived taste.

What does El Jimador Reposado taste like?

On the nose, a buttery structure is felt, along with cooked agave, vanilla and nutty spice. On the palate, creamy, lightly roasted agave stands out with a touch of caramel. The finish is clean, soft and medium in length; light oak tones give way to a lingering vanilla warmth.

How is it served, and which foods does it pair with?

It can be drunk neat or over ice, or used, as the producer suggests, in a Paloma made with grapefruit soda, lime juice and a pinch of salt. It pairs well with spiced dishes, grilled meats and meze platters.
