If you're taking a gift home from North Cyprus, raki, Turkish or local wine, boxed whisky and liqueurs are the most popular choices. Which one you go for depends on who it's for and how much room you have in your case. Below are short notes on each and tips for packing bottles. You can buy them all at Jastin Off Licence in the Bafra Tourism Zone (İskele, North Cyprus) and Famagusta (Gazimağusa), or have them delivered to your hotel.
Who should I buy what for?
- A friend who loves trying new drinks: a bottle of raki with a short "how to drink it" note.
- A wine lover: a red and a white from native grapes, for two different characters.
- A whisky fan: an age or edition that's hard to find at home. Ask us what's in stock.
- Someone with a sweet tooth, or your host: a boxed liqueur.
- Several people: 20–35 cl bottles take up little space in your case and make it easier to share out your allowance.
How many bottles can I take home from Cyprus?
That depends on where you're flying to. For the UK, each adult can bring 4 litres of spirits over 22% (or 9 litres of drinks up to 22%) plus 18 litres of still wine and 42 litres of beer (GOV.UK, as of September 2026). We've listed the current limits for the Green Line, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Russia and Kazakhstan, with official links, in our guide to duty-free allowances from North Cyprus. Plan your gifts around your allowance.
How do I pack gift bottles for the flight?
- Put them in the hold: liquids over 100 ml won't get through security in your hand luggage. This matters even more on connecting flights.
- Wrap them: wrap each bottle in clothes or bubble wrap and put it in the middle of your case, away from the hard edges.
- Secure the cap: tape screw caps and put the bottle in a plastic bag, so your clothes stay dry if it leaks.
- Protect the box: wrap gift boxes too so they don't get crushed.
- Mind the weight: a full 70 cl bottle weighs roughly 1.2–1.5 kg, so keep your airline's baggage allowance in mind.
Can I have my gifts delivered to my hotel?
Yes. Order your gifts on WhatsApp before your departure day and we'll bring them to your hotel or villa. For Bafra hotels, see alcohol delivery to Bafra hotels. Check the box and seal are intact on delivery. For tips on spotting genuine bottles, see our guide on how to spot fake alcohol.
What drink should I bring back from North Cyprus?
Raki: the local drink
Raki is the aniseed spirit served with meze at the Turkish Cypriot table, and it's the answer to "what's the local drink in North Cyprus?". For friends back home it's a gift with a story. You'll find various editions of brands such as Yeni Rakı, Tekirdağ, Efe and Beylerbeyi in our raki, brandy and liqueur section. For someone trying it for the first time, a classic 70 cl bottle or two small bottles is a good start. Tell them how to drink it: with water and ice, alongside white cheese and melon.
Turkish and local wines
Wines made from Anatolia's native grapes (such as Öküzgözü, Boğazkere, Kalecik Karası and Narince) are hard to find in the UK, which makes them an interesting present. Choose a red for a wine lover, or a rosé or white for summer. Browse our wine range, or ask on WhatsApp which local labels are in stock.
Whisky gift sets
Boxed whiskies, and sets that sometimes come with glasses or miniatures, make a gift with no wrapping needed. Our whisky shelves hold around 220 bottles: Scotch single malts and blends, Irish, American and Japanese. Looking for a particular age or edition? Browse whisky or ask us about stock.
Liqueurs
Coffee, cream, fruit and herbal liqueurs suit anyone with a sweet tooth. Lower-strength ones fall into the "up to 22%" category in many countries, which can help you make better use of your allowance.
Brandy and cognac
For a more classic, wintry present, brandy or cognac works well. Boxed options are in our raki and liqueur section.
